David and Debbie Robinson are the founders and owners of Lava Creek. You'll likely speak with one of us when you call, and since we both love to be out with kindred spirits in our favorite places, there's a good chance one of us will be your kayak or Yellowstone Park guide.
Originally from Louisiana, David still enjoys spicy food and zydeco music. He has been out West since
he was 12 years old, when he attended school and learned to ski in the then small town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
After attending high school in West Yellowstone, he knew that the mountains of

Montana were the place to be. After a degree in science education from Montana State University and a few years of teaching in the classroom, he decided that the mountains really were the place to be, and the place
where teaching and learning are as natural as water and rock. It's been a life long love affair.
Debbie is a Montana native, and was born and raised in West Yellowstone. Her family has extensive history here, including a dad who guided some of the first snow coach and snowmobile trips into Yellowstone Park. Debbie married David during the infamous Yellowstone fires of 1988, shortly after he helped to evacuate his parents house (because the fire and the
firefighters forced them out the morning of the wedding).
She must have known what she wanted, because she (with the help of her sister) had to move the ceremony last-minute from its originally planned site at Madison
Junction in Yellowstone Park (which was on fire) to the town of West Yellowstone (which was only really smoky). Things have been slightly more predictable since (but just as hot), and they are still happily married. Debbie manages our condominium rental (The Horse Butte Hideaway) and works full time as a para-professional special needs teacher at the West Yellowstone School.
This business evolved out of a passion for exploring
the Greater Yellowstone area, and a desire to share the magic and majesty of the place with others. Most find their time here life altering in some way, and for us, it never loses its enchanting attraction. W have spent over 30 years of our lives exploring these mountains and learning about the various components of this amazing landscape. I still find it as enthralling as the day I arrived, and Debbie is always excited about a new adventure, even after having grown up here...It really is a place like no other.
Through Lava Creek, David and Debbie are also working with the local schools and several nonprofit organizationstoward the goal of providing easily accessible and regularly scheduled outdoor educational opportunities for schools and children in the Yellowstone area. What better classroom than Yellowstone National Park?
